WHEREAS, The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) joins the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and the Emergency Preparedness Advisory Commission in reminding residents to get ready, to have a plan and to be safe; and
WHEREAS, individuals, families, schools, businesses and organizations can engage in preparedness activities by becoming involved, making a plan and being informed; and
WHEREAS, The Office of Emergency Management was created to provide the highest level of emergency preparedness resources for the residents of Arlington County to ensure a safe and ready future; and
WHEREAS, continues to support and coordinate the County’s response in times of emergencies and to provide the critical communication and information links between those responding to an incident and County executives and uses helpful social media tools for alerts and tips; and
WHEREAS, when communities are prepared they remain resilient and sustainable;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jay Fisette, Chair of the Arlington County Board of Arlington, do hereby recognize the month of September, 2014, as NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH in Arlington County and encourage all residents to practice good safety and individual preparedness throughout the year.
